3. Tech to Fashion
Fashion, as a signifier of societal change, can stimulate contemporary articulations on the dialectics of technology and modernity in the clothing and textile. The pedagogy of fashion and design education in synergizing materials and techniques plays a tripartite role in design, production and consumption.
The theme of the conference Tech to Fashion aims to initiate conversation on fashion, culture, textiles and sustainability by providing an interdisciplinary platform to share perspectives and practice-led research experiences on the issues and concerns, challenges and possibilities of changing existing fashion practices. Trans-global cultural narratives may enable relevant issues to transcend the regional to take on global significance. Some pertinent questions that the Conference seeks to discuss are
  • How can the current markets revitalize through technology?
  • How can fashion education become catalyst for futuristic fashion?
  • Can rediscover to sustainability and empowerment of fashion and textile sector?
  • Can the symbiosis of environment and human knowledge-skills engender new design definitions and experiences?
  • Is green technology the solution to sustainable apparel & textile production systems?
  • Research papers / thematic posters may focus on, but are not limited to, the following topics under the subthemes:

The subthemes and questions are only indicative of possible lines of reflection. In order to facilitate evaluation, authors are requested to indicate the subtheme in the abstract.

Envisioning a Sustainable Tomorrow

Amity School of Communication in collaboration with The American Center is organizing a students’ film festival on 13th-14th October 2017 as part of the 5th Rajasthan Science Congress 2017. The films should be made keeping the theme in mind “Envisioning a Sustainable Tomorrow”;

(We don’t want to limit your creativity by telling you how to make your film but we sure would like to help you with a lead which can fuel up your imagination – Sub areas of sustainability on which you can make your films – social, economic, environmental sustainability)

Categories for competition
  • Fiction Film (5-15 mints)
  • Documentary (5-20 mints)
  • Animation (20 Sec.-10 mints)

Films with Props Theme (5-10 mints - to be announced on 1st October – 2017)
